The brief
Keeping 150,000 students safe — one bus at a time
School transportation in the GCC is a high-stakes operation: parents need live visibility, schools need accountability, and governments need traceability. eMushrif was building the platform to deliver all three — a GPS-enabled, IoT-integrated system tracking every bus, every trip, in real time.
They weren't looking for a software agency to hand requirements to. They needed an engineering team who would own the build alongside them — people who would show up in the product, raise concerns early, and stay long enough to see the platform through multiple markets and funding rounds.
What TBox did
Embedded engineering across every layer of the product
- Built and maintained the iOS and Android mobile apps — including "Saar by eMushrif," the parent-facing app for live bus tracking, arrival alerts, and student status updates.
- Developed the full backend infrastructure using Node.js and Express.js, handling real-time GPS data, IoT device communication, and school-bus fleet management at scale.
- Built the Angular.js-based frontend dashboard used by school administrators to manage routes, buses, drivers, and student assignments.
- Scaled the engineering team dynamically with eMushrif's growth — from initial build to a peak of 10 TBox engineers embedded across the product simultaneously.
- Supported the platform through two market expansions (Oman → Kuwait) and three funding rounds without service disruption or architectural rework.
- Integrated IoT hardware systems for real-time bus location tracking and onboard device management.
The defining moment
By the time eMushrif raised their Series A, the product was live in two GCC markets with government contracts in hand. That didn't happen by luck — it happened because the engineering team scaled in lockstep with the business. At peak, TBox had 10 engineers embedded across iOS, Android, backend, and frontend simultaneously. eMushrif's founders focused on market expansion. We made sure the product kept up.
What this demonstrates
Long-term trust, not short-term delivery
Most agencies measure success in sprints. This engagement is now in its sixth year — spanning three funding rounds, two market launches, and one acquisition (MyRoute in Kuwait). That kind of continuity isn't accidental: it requires genuine alignment between how a client thinks about their product and how their engineering team shows up.
TBox didn't own eMushrif's product. We supported the team who did. The distinction matters — it means we built to their standards, escalated what needed escalating, and adapted as the business evolved. The platform's growth and investor confidence are a reflection of the product; TBox's six-year tenure is a reflection of how we work.
